We had a short vacation this past week... I headed to Tokyo!
We're here!
$10 for a one way subway ticket... crazy expensive!
Asakusa Smile Hotel!
Subway system... amazingly complex!
Sensoji Temple in Asakusa!
Buddha!
After the temple we headed to Shibuya Crossing... said to be one of the busiest intersections in the world!
Hachiko and me! Hachiko is an akita, and was owned by a Japanese professor. The dog was known for his amazing loyalty... he would greet the professor each day at Shibuya Station!
Olympic bridge.
Takeshita Street (no there is no typo). Fun pedestrian shopping/restaurant street in Harajuku!
Time to eat! Okonomiyaki! DELICIOUS!
We did it!
We stayed up ALL night in order to get in line at 4am so we could get in to a tuna auction! The green vests are our sign of victory! Only 120 people get in each day!
Absolutely amazing experience. Buyers would touch the tuna, use a tool to test their texture... and then the bidding starts! Some of these tuna can sell for as much as $10,000 usd!
Pretty lanterns on the street.
Cherry blossoms!
3 pretty awesome structures behind me in Sumida... from left to right (the Tokyo Skytree, Asahi beer building, and the Asahi beer headquarters with its' golden flame aka golden turd)!
Sumo!
I do not eat any seafood... but still had the opportunity to head to a sushi restaurant!
I knew I wasn't going to be able to leave Japan without trying some sake... sweet and hot sake!
Tokyo Skytree!
Look... I can hold it up with one hand!
Authentic ramen!
Sumida at night!
Tested out some black and white shots! =)
^^Plastic food! Similar cases line streets and restaurants all over Japan!
Delicious?!?
Yummy Kit Kats in all different flavors (ie green tea, strawberry, mochi, chili pepper, dark chocolate)! I couldn't find a standard Kit Kat! haha
Sure will!
Love,
K.
